Biography
Rubali Valerio, known as “The Ruby of the Accordion,” was born in Santo Domingo on May 9, 1998, immersed in a family where music was an essential part of life. From an early age, she was surrounded by melodies and rhythms thanks to the influence of her father, the renowned accordionist Lupe Valerio. At the age of twelve, Rubali felt the call of music and decided to follow in her father’s footsteps, inheriting his talent and becoming his mentee. She studied singing at the Ñico Lora School of Typical Music, where she refined her technique and joined ‘Los Hijos de Lupe’, a group that embodied the musical soul of the region.
After a brief pause in her musical career while living in the United States, Rubali resumed her passion in 2021 with renewed vigor. Under the expert direction of her father, she formed her own typical group, baptizing it as ‘Rubali Valerio – The Ruby of the Accordion’. With the support of her musical lineage and her tireless dedication, Rubali continues to make an indelible mark on the scene of typical Dominican music, carrying with her the legacy of her father and forging her own path to artistic success.
