La Barbie del Acordeón

Biography
At just 13 years old, she discovered that typical music was her future and passion, influenced by her fellow townsperson, the legendary Fefita La Grande. “La Barbie del Acordeón” is already one of the exponents of the genre and is considered the sensation of the moment.
Danibel Bretón, as the accordionist’s real name is, did not need extensive classes to develop as a musician. “My father, David Bretón, took accordion lessons from Reyes Pilarte, who came to the house, and I would watch them,” says La Barbie. “One day, I asked my father to lend me the instrument, and I played the merengue ‘El Puente Seco’ much better than he did.”
Originally from the province of Santiago Rodríguez, the 24-year-old recalls when she first stepped onto a stage, doing so alongside maestro Bartolo Alvarado -El Ciego De Nagua-, with the iconic song “El diente de oro.”
She began her career in 2018 and since then has been grateful for the support she has received from the public. As evidence, she plays around ten dances a month, and in December, she performed at more than 20 parties throughout Cibao, just like her peers.
