Nixon Román

Biography
Nixon Román was born in the city of Puerto Plata in 1981. At the age of 13, he moved to Santiago, developing a love for music and learning several instruments such as the accordion, güira, tambora, guitar, bass, conga, and others. At 17, he started playing the güira with his father, Rafaelito Román, participating in his group for over three years. He then joined Bartolo Alvarado, known as El Ciego De Nagua, as a güirero, staying for a year. At 21, he decided to play the accordion, becoming the first accordionist for Krisspy and the Bombazo Típico from 2003 to 2005. He then joined Frandy Sax’s group until 2007.
In 2009, he joined Wilman Peña’s group as an accordionist until 2011, and later became part of Urbanda, serving as musical director and arranger until 2014. That year, he decided to start his own musical project, “Nixon Román el Artista del Acordeón,” and has been successful, maintaining a prominent position in the Típico genre.
