Lupe Valerio

Biography

Lupe Valerio is a prominent figure in Dominican typical music, with over four decades of experience as a musician, composer, and accordion teacher. With more than 200 compositions, he has left an indelible mark on merengue derecho and pambiche. Descendant of the legendary Ñico Lora, he has trained numerous talents, including El Prodigio and Julio Swing, and directs the Typical Music School Ñico Lora in Santiago, where he teaches young Dominicans and foreigners. Currently, he is preparing to release a new single titled “Me la mandó Dios” in November.

His contribution to Dominican typical music includes hits like “Los campos” and the pambiche “Hasta aquí llegue,” recorded by more than 20 genre exponents. Additionally, he was awarded the Popular Music Prize in 2003. Valerio, also known as Zeñon Valerio Lora, continues to be an influential figure in the Dominican music scene, focusing on developing new talents and enriching the legacy of typical music.
